The last time Nintendo hosted a Nintendo Direct presentation was back in February, meaning that the Big N is due for another Direct sooner rather than later. As it turns out, the next Nintendo Direct presentation may be taking place as early as this coming Thursday, April 11, and it could be a rather significant one if recent rumors are to be believed.
GamingIntel, citing a source that has supposedly been correct about other leaks in the past, claims that the next Nintendo Direct will happen on Thursday, April 11, though no other details were provided. However, some speculation online points to this Nintendo Direct being rather significant, and that’s due to the impending retirement of Reggie Fils-Aime.
Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime is officially retiring on April 15, meaning that if a Nintendo Direct does happen on April 11, it could be Reggie’s final appearance. Reggie Fils-Aime has been heavily featured in the Nintendo Direct presentations since their inception, and so it would make sense for Nintendo to go big as a sendoff to Reggie.
As for what games will be showcased during the rumored April 11 Nintendo Direct presentation, that remains to be seen. GamingIntel’s source didn’t provide specifics, but we can make some educated guesses. Looking at Nintendo’s 2019 lineup for the Switch, it seems likely that Super Mario Maker 2 will be featured in the presentation, as it’s due for a June release. Other summer games, like Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 3 – The Black Order, and Astral Chain from Platinum Games seem like distinct possibilities as well.

It’s also possible that Nintendo will use the April 11 Nintendo Direct to showcase certain Switch games that are scheduled for later in the year. Big games like Animal Crossing for Switch and Luigi’s Mansion 3 could very well be highlighted during the next Nintendo Direct, though that’s just speculation at this time.
As for rumored games, Best Buy recently leaked Persona 5 for Switch, as well as Metroid Prime Trilogy and oddly enough, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It’s quite possible that Nintendo is looking to properly announce all three of those games for the Switch in its next Nintendo Direct, but fans will just have to wait and see on that front.
Of course, it’s possible that the rumored Nintendo Direct for April 2019 isn’t even real, so fans should keep that in mind. If the April 11 Nintendo Direct is real, though, Nintendo should announce it within the next couple of days.
