One more of those deadly bugs has been found. Season 9 of Fornite has just begun and another instant death area threatens players who may accidentally stumble upon it.
These instant death areas are becoming uncomfortably common in Fortnite lately. These bugs inhabit specific tiles on the map, and when they are stepped on, it causes a player’s character to abruptly die. These are the frustrating bugs no one wants to come across in a competitive title, but this marks at least the third reported case of this type of bug making its way into the game.
While it is likely other players have seen this new instant death spot, its existence was made public thanks to a clip from rtjr2 on the Fortnite subreddit.

In the short snippet of video, the player opens a supply crate, then attempts to slide down the side a steep cliff only to be abruptly eliminated, raining his possessions on the ground below. These invisible, deadly areas are quite a predicament for Fortnite players, especially if they have been doing well in a match. There has been no official word from Epic addressing this newest death trap, but many believe these various bugs and glitches will be taken care of in the game’s next patch, v9.10, which is expected to drop next week. Until then, players beware.
While this deadly bug is an unplanned feature of Season 9, there is plenty of new content introduced that players are happy to see brought into the game. This includes a variety of new skins, emotes, pets, Fortbytes, and more. The theme this time around is futuristic, and there are tons of new Season 9 skins that reflect that nicely. As was the case with previous seasons, to complete the Battle Pass and unlock the higher tier skins, players will need to complete weekly challenges.
One of these challenges will be to find the 7 Sky Platforms across Battle Island. These are new platforms introduced with Season 9 and, as the name implies, can only be found in the sky. They may sound out of reach, but a series of new slipstream tubes will help players access them. These tubes will be littered all across the island, so they shouldn’t be terribly difficult to locate. Which this in mind, it should be a breeze to locate the 7 sky platforms and complete the challenge.
Fortnite is out now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
